Family Promise GK is looking for an Executive Director

Family Promise of Greater Kingsport (FPGK) stands as a beacon of hope within our community, fueled by our affiliation with the esteemed national Family Promise program. Our unwavering commitment is to combat family homelessness in Greater Kingsport through a dynamic, community-centered approach. We provide essential services including housing, meals, comprehensive case management, and heartfelt community support to children and families experiencing homelessness.

 

Executive Director (ED) Job Objective:

As the Executive Director, the core mission is to steer FPGK towards its mission with unwavering dedication to assisting homeless families with minor children. This involves nurturing positive relationships with guests, clients, corporate sponsors, community partners, donors, and media outlets. Concurrently, the ED ensures operational efficiency while providing inspiration, leadership, and foresight to our remarkable team of staff, board members, and volunteers.

 

Community Relations:

  • Enhance visibility and understanding of FPGK through professionally crafted brochures, newsletters, and a vibrant online presence.

  • Serve as the face of FPGK to the media, government entities, corporations, and fellow nonprofits.

  • Foster connections with supporting agencies and actively engage in relevant forums to bolster collaboration.

Board Relations:

  • Collaborate with committees to execute our strategic plan effectively.

  • Leverage individual board members' expertise for organizational advancement and facilitate strategic discussions.

  • Work closely with the Board President to shape meeting agendas and ensure follow-through on action items.

Church Partner Relations:

  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with churches through regular communication and engagement.

  • Coordinate volunteer efforts with churches involved in hosting or providing food for shelter guests.

  • Encourage church involvement in office tasks and fundraising initiatives.

Case Management:

  • Provide oversight to ensure that FPGK achieves organizational goals, families are well-supported, and crises are managed with compassion and efficiency.

  • Develop programs and forge community partnerships to enhance services for families in need.

Management:

  • Lead a cohesive and high-performing organization through effective management of volunteers, board members, and staff.

  • Recruit, hire, and mentor staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of excellence.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to nurture a thriving team environment.

Financial:

  • Maintain meticulous oversight of finances, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.

  • Collaborate with the Board Treasurer and Fund Development Committee to meet financial objectives through diverse funding streams.

  • Spearhead grant writing efforts to secure crucial funding opportunities.

Administrative:

  • Establish and uphold procedural standards for all organizational processes.

  • Remain available for emergencies outside regular hours and oversee staff on-call scheduling.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of operations and program outcomes, providing regular reports to the Board of Directors and funding sources.

Accountability:

  • The Executive Director is directly accountable to the FPGK Board of Directors.

 

Salary and working hours:

  • The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $60,000 annually, based on experience. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position requiring 40 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work and on-call availability.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Leadership and supervision experience.

  • Proficiency in computer software and electronic communication.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience.

  • Experience in social work, nonprofit management, public administration, or related fields.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.

  • Creative and entrepreneurial thinking.

  • Compassion, empathy, and cultural sensitivity towards diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of nonprofit experience.

  • Demonstrated success in collaboration with community partners, volunteers, corporations, and boards.

  • Strong track record in fund development and financial management.

  • Familiarity with homeless service provision models and related programs.
